Badrinath, is a part of Chardham and has an old legend that Lord Vishnu in his Nar Narayan avtaar, did Tapasya there and that entire place was filled with trees of berries. Berry in Sanskrit is known as Badri and it is believed that Goddess Lakhsmi took the form of a berry tree to protect Lord Vishnu from all weather conditions.
